Christmas in July!

waspinator421 Jul 12, 2007 02:51 PM

I just received a really nice adult male today. He is a light colored Normal. I took a few shots just now, he's already discovered the pleasures of his moss hide.

He must not have liked being shipped because he tagged my friend (WolfenWarrior) soon after being taken out. I don't blame him though... who wants to be all cramped up in a dark box being bounced around for 18 hours anyway?

I'll get some better pictures of him after he has settled in for a couple days.

Here he is, I've named him Flax.

Thanks Dave! I have a question, several of you guys are calling him an "Orange" BRB. I know he has a light orange look to him, but I though those were considered light normals. Are the normals just the ones that are more brownish?

Well, IMO there are three normal color phases - orange, brown and red. There are also high red and high orange which to me means a more intense, vibrant and/or brighter coloring. Never heard of a "high brown" though!

I remember looking at that guy on Sunday and now comes Thursday and you have him already with pics gosh That male reminds me of Jeff's Tom Davis acquisition too I think and congrats
Bob

Thanks Bob! Yeah, that ad was only up for a day. There was a nice deeper orange male up for sale too, but I couldn't get them both. This light male was so pretty that I just had to have him.

Aubrey,
...Great looking snake. I saw the ad and was tempted but I already have way too many males. I think I see big scales on that snake. He also has a head that looks exactly like one of my male Peruvian Rainbows. If you get a chance can you count scale rows at midbody? If you want to make the count just take a guess at what looks like near mid body and count the scale rows and then do a count six inches forward and another six inches aft of the first count. The largest number you get will be the "mid body scale row count". I am curious to see if that snake has a lower nmber than typical BRBs.

Jeff, I'll give that a try for you after a little while. When couting scale rows, do I go all the way around the snake, or just up to the top? And you count them diagonally right?

Aubrey,
...Diagonally helps to make the counting easier and go all the way around.
Thanks,
Jeff
