Substitute for NutriGro iguana food

iguanaman3 Jul 12, 2007 11:25 PM

I have 3 mature iguanas that are all over 10 years old. My oldest is 15 years. I have been feeding them a diet of collards, squash, ect. daily, Plus NutriGro iguana maintainence diet mixed with banana 2 times a week. They have been eating it since they were babies and they all LOVE their Nutrigro and now it has been discontinued! I need to find a substitute quickly before I have a rebellion! I need a dry alfalfa based mix with Vit and minerals that I can make a paste with when mixed with banana. I ordered some ZooMed natural but it is semi-moist and has FISH MEAL! Has anyone taken over old ESU/Coral Life formula?

Maybe something like... FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES!? :O Lol, I dont think theyd resent that. Good luck anyway.

He DOES feed the fresh, too - just mixed in with alot of substitute!

As for adding anything else in, they only NEED the fresh fruit and veggies - no additives. They might not be happy about the change, but they'll live with it. My ig is just on mustard greens, collard greens, green beans, squash, and a touch of fruit for color, with some added vitamins and calcium for added help. Have fun with them!

Well sorry! I missed that entirely. It was late at night (for me) and I was a little drowsy and missed that. But on topic... Mazuri makes high quality exotic diets, even one that crocodilian experts agree with. Theyre pretty hard to satisfy. Try their ig diet.

NutriGro was the best premade food. It was formulated by Ed Luchevick of American Reptile, Dryridge Kn. He sold the formula to ESU. ESU has been bought by Cental Garden and Pet Supply. They killed it. Those fools.
Anyway, Mazure make a pretty close sub. My 10 yr old likes it w/ her fresh veggies and greens.
