Sneaky snake

wftright Jul 13, 2007 12:58 AM

I found my little guy sneaking around under a plastic plant by his water dish tonight. When I turned on the light to take pictures, he crawled away, but I got this picture before he left.

He did something else strange this week.

I'm feeding him in a paper bag that I leave in his cage while he eats. With this technique, I don't have to handle him after he's eaten, but I've found that the paper bag focuses his attention on his food. I just leave the bag in the cage for a day or two so that I don't have to open the cage at all while he's digesting.

I went to remove the paper bag, and I found that he had defecated in the bag. He had eaten a couple of days ago and left the bag immediately after eating. The bag was sitting at only a slight angle, but he managed to climb up the side and into the top. He then defecated before crawling out again. I'm not sure what motivated him to do this, but cleaning that stool was certainly easier than usual.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.

Bill,

He sounds like a perfectly normal snake....shy and secrative. And as for defacating, the ones I hate is when they do it in their water bowl. Those are a real mess to clean up.

I'm glad he's doing well for you.
