Color looks off..ready to shed?

mdd Jul 13, 2007 10:26 AM

We've had our leo for a month- it's doing well, eating fine and definately getting friendlier. Its a baby but has definately grown since we got it. I just went in to mist the cage and check on it, and his color is much paler than a couple days ago...Is leo getting ready to shed? or could it me a vitamin deficiency??/ I make sure the crickets it gets are well fed, plus I use meal worms and leave vitamin/calcium powder in the tank.

thanks

mdd

mdd,
Sounds like you are doing everything correctly. Your young gecko is probably getting ready to shed. Make sure you have a 'moist box' / humid hide(http://supremegecko.com/INFORMATION_Humid Hide.html) the gecko can crawl into to keep moist.

Good luck

It's most likely shedding. Keep an eye on it until the color becomes brighter - it means that he/she shed! Thats a very good sign! But just make sure that you check all its toes because sometimes it can lose some if the leftover skin gets caught around one.
