Delivery Number 2 - Will Bird BRB's

run26neys Jul 13, 2007 11:02 AM

I just got the snake that came via UPS all settled and FedEx arrived with my snakes from Will Bird. As soon as I opened the box and pushed aside the packing material - I was in awe of the contrast the snakes have. I really wanted a pair, but I was having trouble decided which female to get to I got both. Mickey (from Jeff Clark) now has a couple of hotties to hook up with.

Four new snakes today and zero bites (and only one strike to boot), so things went well.

First up the girls - F1244 (first pic) and F1261 (second pic). Overall F1244 is better but I had kept on coming back to 1261 on Will's website, and I am glad I got her too. The male was 1248, and has amazing colors and cresents.

Looks like you've been to the Dave Colling school of acquisitions! Not satisfied with one new baby, but have to buy from two sellers, delivered on the same day, and the 1.1 magically turns into 1.2!!! What part of don't listen to me did you not get?

Congrats, very nice additions from Will.

Congrats! Very nice looking bunch! Its interesting to me that from what I can make out is just subtle colors and pattern differences fetch such a higher price tag. I have been told that the crescents and bull’s-eye fetch higher prices but the price differences are fairly high with no guarantee that it’s off spring will look as good as its parents (if you plan to breed of course). Please don’t get me wrong here I am by no means complaining or trying to be negative as these are gorgeous snakes that I some day wish to own but I guess because not to many morphs are mainstream with BRBs? I guess my question is this, is the market they way it is because not many morphs yet exists for BRB, so it comes down to the crescents and bull’s-eye and the colors?

Thanks,

when you get so into rainbows the minor details seem a lot bigger. it's like stamp collectors, to everyone else they are all just a bunch of stamps and who cares if one is printed upside down or whatever, but to the stamp collector every nuance is beautiful. so it's worth a hundred or so more for the little changes because they make each snake a unique piece of art. (to me at least)

and when there are more morphs i think that bullseyes and colors will still be important.

It has a lot to do with the color, contrast and cresents. The bullseye's do command more $$. I do like the look of the bulleyes, and big colorful cresents. People say the better looking BRB's have better looking babies, so I am trying get some great normal brb's (plus I am planning on getting hypomelanistic's from my 100% hets).

Here is a good example: First pick is Lucky a female that came along with a male that I wanted, and the next pic is the new male I picked up from Will. Lucky has almost no contrast in her cresents and low contrast overall. The male is just the opposite.

Yeah Mike, Will does have some contrasty babies and I love them all. Just wait to see the irridescence on those beauties in the next coming months as they should develop a very nice hue on the sides with some UV light. Docile huh? mine came out head first both of them but have been angels ever since and I had to to get rid of one (the better looking one at that) and I hate myself for it but I really needed some money and I had a very nice deal lined up at a good home so what more can I ask for but I still don't have him and thanks for sharing. When picking out nice animals I tend to look at the dorsal pattern color (the circlish part) and try and find the brightest orange color I can find as opposed to the brown ones but some of the browns who are frowned upon make my eyes fill with envy and excitement
