First clutch of 07 on Friday the 13'th..

idealreptiles Jul 13, 2007 02:36 PM

It must be a sign that all five are Bumblebees!
I don't know how I am going to stand this wait...
Thanks BHB for an 03 pastel that finally got to breeder size, and Chris Simone for a Spider that breed at a years age.

I am sure they will be fine, but should I go to the store and add a layer of perilite in the bin?
I want to make sure everything goes perfect.
thanks

if you are doing the no substrate method then i would use only perlite but if your eggs are in contact with the substrate I'd go strictly with vermiculite. Some people forget that with the properties that perlite has, it can and will draw moisture from your eggs if it gets too dry. Granted I know alot of people have had success with it, but I say why fix what isn't broke. I have never lost an egg do to my incubation technique and hopefully never will. On that note I have thought of trying the NS method in the future as I do want to try my hand at chondro's in the future.

But, I know haw they farm these in Africa, and if they can hatch under those conditions, my laboratory incubator is surly better.
Note: I use ORGANIC vermiculite....

I'll be hoping for the best on your odds. I always say that snake breeders age in dog years with all the stress waiting on our clutches to hatch. Remember hide the razor blades around day 45 Brian (BHB)

I usually cut a few, but know it doesn't hurt to leave them be.
Man, I look at my invoice... she was $1700 four years ago!
Now, one can look at that as CRAZY that they were that much
Many try to haggle your pricing down about female pastels around $350.
If I get one bee, or a few spiders... it was well spent... even if it took four years.
Every year, If I produce a good clutch, I get closer to breaking even.
Female pastels are awesome... so I have 13 of them! (lucky right?)
I just replaced ten normals with them.
Take care,
Evan
