New Male Coxi

KelliH Jul 13, 2007 05:51 PM

This is an interesting male coxi that we hope to be breeding in 2008 or 2009.

Let us know what you think.

Hi Steveand Kelly, Bill Ried here. That snake is smoking hot. To die for. Make some. Do you have siblings? Is that an import or captive hatched. I noticed the red is deep red most captives are orange.

Hey Bill,

It is a captive little guy and he is more red than orange. He should be large enough to breed in 2008, but the female I have most likely will not. She is just the opposite and is more of an orange color and is more of a pinstripe. I will try and get some pics of her up later tonight.

The female is unrelated to the male and there were 2 other "black-backed" coxi in the litter that he came from that did not make it, and one of them was a girl! Oh well. I will see what I can do to create a "black-backed" coxi line.

That coxi is amazing! Who produced it?

You said you had an unrelated female. As far I knew, all captive coxi were from one original breeding. Are there new lines coming around and who has them?

Nick,

I produced the animal. I work for a zoo, so it is zoo stock (which is the same as others).

What I meant by unrelated is that it is not a sibling. It came from different parents, the female that is, even though there are very few bloodlines out there.

Zoo huh, thats cool! I'd like to know someone who works at a zoo, could get some rare animals that way. Good luck with that breeding project!

Somehow I do not think it works like that. You cannot walk up to your friend the elephant keeper at the zoo and tell him you want an elephant. Steve mentioned nothing about parting with the snakes either.

This the non-sibling female that will be his future mate. She is very pretty on her own.

Hope you like her as much as the male.

Thanks for looking.

Wow,

For some reason, coxi don't do much for me, but that one might just convert me. What a gorgeous animal!

I think you should name it "mudsnake" phase.
