cellar......15 years plus this time around......and they like it better.....hotter ,humid as all can imagine.....I mean real humid.......and they like it .....plus they smell all the other snakes , that makes them feel at home.....

..........mice and all rodents in another room in cellar......now they make humidity also..and they really don't like it.....mice cannot take humidity as well as snakes......so if people get really healthy lab bred and raised mice and stick them in a basment that is hot or cold , humid and all......the mice won't do well...I have basically my own strain of American crossed English mutts......and they can take anything .....17 years of breeding mice here......lots of them.......

well, my room is in da basement. so the basement is where I keep my snake, 5 of them. I won't stay its the worse place. my oldest has spent 5yrs w/ me in da basement & 4yrs w/ my 2nd oldest. I believe if I move out I still would use the basement as my snake room in my new residence.

I have no room in my basement so Mine are all in my living room. Currently have 20 and I like it and they all seem to like it. I keep the mice in the basement it is cooler down there.

Mine are in the basement as well. It has it's pros and cons. It's more work to keep temps where I want them but then there arent the kids and dogs running by and stressing them out. Not to mention one of my good friends is very afraid of snakes so if they were in the living room she'd never come over.

We have all of our snake rooms in the basement. Three rooms and a total of a little over 700 snakes, and we have had them there for years. We used tons of insulation and insulated ceiling tile. The temps always stay hot and humid and our basement outside of the rooms is always freezing even in the summer time, but in the rooms the temps hardly ever flux. I actually prefer the basment, I feel it is one of the most constent temps in a house.

The reason someone probably said that the basement is not good is because, due to the high humidity and constant temperature, basements are notorious for mold, mildew and bacteria.

Airborne mold spores which are inhaled by your animals can make them very sick. But if you make sure your basement stays clean and not too humid and such, your animals should fare well there.

I have my 2 in my room, its the hottest room in the house during the summer, and the coolest during the winter, perfect for my animals.

actually the mold and all will rot the house and make US sick,, but won't do much for the snakes.....they can take it..

my snakes are in my bedroom.

as for basements, it all depends on how clean it is. mine is converted into "just another part of the house".

I have a bonus room upstairs...my wife said i could have it....so its the Man Room (HDTV, surround sound, oversized couch, mini fridge) AND its the snake room!!!

we have a small house with no up or downstairs. the house has two bedrooms, one for us to sleep in and a spare. however, i refuse to have to open a door to view my snakes, so they are right here in the living room/dining room/computer room. my squirrel friend is very accepting, bless her. she doesnt mind the snakes in constant view, or the rats in the freezer. im a lucky guy.

Now noone laugh but I converted my walkin closet in my bedroom into my snake room. I have somewhere around 70 snakes in there ranging from hatchlings to adults. My wife was not to stoked about the idea but she feels its better than having them spread through out the house. I mean its a bit of a narrow walkway through it considering Im 6'8" and about 350 lbs, well if anyone knows how big or small(no offense Brian)Brian(BHB)Barcykz is he and I can only fit in there at a time. I breed my rats and mice in my garage where I built a smaller room in the garage to heat and cool a little more efficiently. But the wife wants me to insulate and drywall the garage so I can put all the snakes out there. I like the room I use for the snakesfor the simple fact it has a window in it and I use the normal weather pattern and light to cycle my snakes. But trust me I would ABSOLUTLEY love to have a basement to use.
