Looking to build a rack... what size bin

Doug89 Jul 14, 2007 03:11 AM

I have 2 snakes currently and am hoping to acquire a 3rd very soon. I was thinking of building a small 3 bin rack to accomodate all 3 easily, efficiently, and securely.

My question is, what size rubbermaid container do you recommend for a ball python?

I'm thinkin 20 gallons (about) but i cant seem to find the right one.

Please, any advice you can offer would be awesome!

Thanks!

If you can get your hands on the Sterilite 41 qt. boxes (Walmart usually has them) I would suggest those. They give a lot of floor space for larger ball pythons, which is always good.
I have a 1500 gram female in one of those with a catbox hide and a large water bowl and she still has plenty of room to roam.

Okay, well i'm gonna look into these IRIS containers, if someone could give me the dimensions of the 2 mentioned that would be great seeing as im' going to home depot tomorrow, ha.

And the rack i'm building, i will be able to build another one that wil stack on top of it if/when the collection expands and so on and so forth.

What kind of wood would be best though to any of the lumberjacks out there? I'm making it like a bookshelf almost cept the trays slide right in instead of books!

Thanks!

My advice to you: Build a rack for about 12 snakes! Cause, by the time you finish it, it'll be too small! It's an addiction!

i would look into iris tubs. the cb-70 tub is good for adults. the iris tubs are well made and smooth on the inside.

I know alot of people like the Iris CB-70s. I use the next size up - Iris CB-110. Even my 3000 gram female has room to thermo-regulate in it.

I would definitely use the Iris tubs. I use them and love them. I really don't care for the new Sterilite tubs. They're to curvy and not straight-forward. I like the Iris tubs because they are just your regular tubs, nothing fancy at all. They are very straight-forward and their prices are good. I would go with those but that is just my opinion.

i would say 32qt tubs...
