Daytona was great! Thanks Terry!

gapnda7 Aug 18, 2003 05:36 PM

Had a great time in Daytona as a show virgin. Special thanks to Terry for setting up the Ratsnake dinner. It's fun to sit around with others who share similar interests. I could have sat there for days talking snakes but I guess you have to go home sometime and get back to work.....

It was equally fun placing a face to the names...Karl, Rex, Emerick, Larry Keller, Terry, and everyone else. Too much fun.

All the best everyone! Please keep in touch.

I wish Daytona wasn't on the other side of the country. One day I'll have to go and get an ackie monitor or something. It would be nice if they had big shows like that in northern california. But not as many herpers as in Florida, eh?

Man Florida has everything... good herping, good diving... we got OK herping here and good diving, but it's cold as hell.

Would not know where to begin with the stories but it was 3 days and nights of fun for my wife and I. Great people, nice weather, good food, cold beer and many herps.

We have decided to increase the number of days we spend there during future shows to 4 or maybe even 5 days as Daytona is a fun town on its own. We only live 80 miles north of there yet 3 days is just not long enough!!!!!!!

OH yes>>>I do know of one incredibly funny story involving a well known herper and the slingshot ride but I can not share that one here.

We did score on finding an incredible pet carrier that had its begining right here in the South. Very handy item!!!!!

Great picture..unfortunately I don't think my 134lb Chocolate Lab will fit in a 12 box. I will have to see about a 112 box..lol

Now if that only worked for my Bengal Cat! Of course- it would have to be some fancy imported beverage container...
Great pic.

I just got back, as I've been driving since Monday morning. I spent most of the first day trying to get through Atlanta, hahaa. Remind me to never suggest living in GA...those anti-herpists!

Well, I'm safe and sound back in good ol' Michigan, but I'm missing the great company of Daytona already. Can't wait for next year.

Last night I stopped at my partner's house in s.e. MI, so he could check my new stock I said I wasn't going to buy. Then I rushed home to find a clutch of bimaculata hatched out. Ed also has a bunch of stuff hatched, but I'm still waiting on most of mine.

Special thanks to Karl Krumke for my starting stock of Thai bamboo rats (finally have that snake that's named after me ) Also, thanks to Steve Fowler for getting me started with mole kingsnakes. They're gorgeous. And Rex for a start on Sichuan mandarina...nice.

Thanks to everyone for a great gathering. Too much fun. Talk more later Glenn, but have to run for now..take care.
