how hybrid cal king with milk or corn?

captotterboy Jul 14, 2007 07:38 PM

I have a female cal kingsnake that is getting to be about breeding size and i was thinking about getting a male milk or corn to do hybrid babies. I have heard there are some tricks that help make this more successful. Anyone know what they are? My King is below, any suggestions what would make a good hybrid? How do the genetics and patterns work with a corn/king or milk/king cross? Any help would be appreciated.

I have never bred snakes, but i have bred geckos and other lizards successfully.

Thanks,
Jeff

Whatever you get a male of (Corn, Milk) I would sugguest you get a female of also. You will most likely need the female of the said (Corn, Milk) to get the male excited. Once he is you can introduce your female king and get the male switched over to her before he begins copulation with the (corn, milk). Here is a very insightful read from Dwight Good. forum.kingsnake.com/hybrid/messages/4182.html

Thank you very much. I also wanted to say that in doing my research into this your website was one of the ones that got me very interested in hybrids. I especially liked the "Imperial Puablans" in the photo gallery and hope to create a few clutches like those when i am ready. How did you do it?

Thanks Again,
Jeff

I didn't create the first Imperials I purchased them from Victor Calabrese and Jim Meyer.

So i read the thing you sent me and read similar information in other places and i had another question. Is it easier, or basically the same process, to breed a pure king or corn or milk to a hyprid? For example; Is it the same process or a little easier to breed a jungle corn to my cali. king?

Thanks
Jeff

In my experience I would say it is a little easier.
