Howdy tow... A couple years ago my golden got too far away from me and went under a picket fence into my neighbors yard. I flipped out, ran around the house and saw he wasnt there so basicaly I had to a little tracking and found that he had went under the other part of the fence leading to the neighbors front yard. I ended up finding him in some bushes a couple of houses down. All I can say is as soon as you find out he's gone track him down and down and dont stop looking till you find him. I couldnt believe he got as far as he did in such a short amount of time. You should have seen my neighbors face when they came out to see what I was doing...then a full grown tegu pops up. lol

ok i swear to gd this works. take a fish tank out side tht he can fit in and once hes in can get out of. a box migth work too. balance a pinky ir sime kinda of food he likes on the edge of the box. out a way to get up to the edge of the cage on the opposite side of the cage. he will go the way to get to the side of the cage and attampt to grab the food form there and falling in.
this worked for me with a mouse i lost when i was lil. i ballanced a piece of cheeses on the opposite side of the way he could get to the cheese from and left. when i camre back after an hour hewas stuck in the cage

this is going to come off as harsh.
but thats horrible and stupid. depending on how big your tegu was can have a big impact on the reptile world. do NOT NOT NOT tell ANYONE that you live by what happened. BECAUSE if that happens then someone who doesnt like reptiles is going to make up stories like my cat or dog is missing and your runway tegu ate it. then they go to the authorities, and that person will be up their $#% until they do something. ppl are already trying their hardest to get large lizards and snakes banned from the pet trade. you have got to be more careful, and if you cant then get a hamster. there is already an escaped water monitor in illinois that is making trouble. and i dont want to have to give up my monitors and tegus because someone couldnt keep there reptile from getting away. as far as getting it back, its all luck... only way you're going to get it back is if by some chance you see it and run it down. other than that theres pretty much no chance of getting it back.
