a recent rescue all brown B/P

cornsnakes Jul 15, 2007 09:02 AM

Just thought this guy looked very interesting and wanted to share a picture or two.

I rescued him about a month ago and he had a terrible shed in process and has since shed again and not exactly as well as I had hoped, still has a stuck eye cap and a bit of old skin on the back of his neck, however a huge improvement over the way he looked when I got him.

this guy has absolutely zero black anywhere on him, not one scale has black, it looks like a chocolate bar.

what do you folks think, maybe a hypo of some sort???

Although you have a really nice looking ball python. I would not say that he is a hypo of some sort. I am not an expert and I could be wrong, but to me it just looks like a nice normal. However, if you wanted you could line breed it and see what you get, you just never know.

i have a female exactly like that. it's just a very nice looking normal.

I'm not an expert either, just after a few years in this hobby as a breeder and rescuer, this one really stands out as the B/P with the lightest brown coloring I have seen.

The pictures really stink and look much darker than the snake really is, I'll have to try to go outdoors and get a better shot.

and I'll put him nest to some normals for a side by side.

I know there is a lot of variation in the wild, however when do decide what is an extreme example ie Hypo, breeding trials the only way to determine all but the most obvious of morphs?

A friend has a female with similar coloring. We are going to line breed to see if we can prove out her coloring. If she does prove out, I've read they are calling them Chocolate, Burgundy, Chocolate Hypo or Burgundy Hypo. I sure hope it proves out because I would love to have a pied and a spider with that beautiful chocolate coloring.

I forgot to add, ours is a female of breeding size, would you perhaps be interested in a breeding loan to see what they would pop out? Or interested in selling him?

Too me, you have a nice dinking around project! Good luck, and breed it to a pattern morph, to prove out a color morph

Does your snake look like this? Please excuse the shed!
