Genetics questions

venomstreet Jul 15, 2007 12:05 PM

I purchased the male below at the Tampa Show last year. He was labeled a Pastel Motley. The orange areas are actually more pinkish and he's lighter overall. It's a dark pic. I was wondering if it's not just an Anery Motley, since Motley tends to lighten colors, but the pinkish areas lead me to believe he's not Anery. So is it a dark Pastel? Any ideas?

Anyway, I bred him to a Motley female that came from a True Striped female and a Lavender Motley male. My Motley female and the Pastel, or whatever he is, male produced 13 normal Motleys and 2 True Striped hatchlings.

According to the Generic Genetics Wizard a Striped female bred to Lavender Motley male would produce all Motley het Lavender, het Stripe. So the Motley female I bred to the Pastel is het Lav. and Stripe. The Pastel Motley male would have to be het Stripe also, in order for them to produce 2 True Striped hatchlings, as opposed to Motley Striped, correct?
