Do they drink? Oh, yes, as long-time Human Companions know very well. They dip their mouths into the water and pump their jaw muscles to gulp & swallow just like we do.

But how many times, on average?

Due to space limitations in the vivarium of my Baja King (nitida), I only put the water dish in a couple of times per week, usually at night.

Yesterday, he was quite actively searching something, yet had fed 2 days ago, so I added his water dish. He climbed into it to investigate, then he drank 24 gulps! He paused a moment, then took a total of 75!

That sure is alot of gulps.. but, what's even more impressive to me is that you spent time counting gulps..

Yeah, how did you know at the beginning that it was going to be countworthy? Or do you just count everything, just in case?

I've never counted the gulps! But, I have observed my Florida King taking a long time at the water dish. Sometime he'll drink a while, crawl around, and come back for more.

That's funny, I thought I was the only one that ever did that. One time I had gone on vacation, came back to find one of my Rosy boas water dish dumped over. It may not have had water for 3 weeks. I knew it was going to drink a lot so I counted the gulps and got 117. Maybe I'll go and deprive one of my kings water for a month and see if I can break your record!!! LOL J/K
