good place to get backgrounds??

superdave1781 Jul 16, 2007 10:41 PM

this is my first time posting in this forum, so hi to everyone! I was wondering, are any good and cheap websites to get backgrounds for cages? I LOVE some of the scenes that Cages by Design have, but man, I can't spend $130 just for a background! My local pet shops (like Petco and PetSmart) don't really have much for reptiles, so if anyone can direct me to a good place, I'd appreciate it! I need to get one for my wife's bearded dragon, which is in a 55 gallon, some kind of desert scene. And I'm getting ready to move my BRB into a 55 and would love some kind of "mistic rainforest" background!

below are just a few pics for your enjoyment

You're going to hate me for being vague, but I thought I should post this in case it was something that sounded possible.

Months ago I was surfing some European forum and found a thread on backgrounds. I gather the guy found a picture online and went to the Euro version of Kinkos and blew it up and cropped it to fit perfect in his terrarium. The terrarium was planted and looked pretty good.

I don't remember the cost but I gather he did save some money and came up with a better background than what he could buy. I don't think the savings were significant but enough to make it worthwhile, especially since he got exactly what he wanted.

Unfortunately I was not doing a specific search for backgrounds. I just stumbled across the thread and read it.

Hope this helps.

For that matter Chris, one could simply photograph ther own backdrops. As avid herpers most of enjoy field work simply take some pics while hiking and bam instant DIY backdrop.

Funny this hasn't been metioned before.

I agree. After seeing that thread I thought it made a lot of sense, especially now that all of that sort of technology is available to the average guy/gal.
