desert kingsnake

Thanks all for your help to identify my kingsnake, i will post more pics as i get them, any help with breeding would be great (after he/she has been probed)

I have never bred snakes before but would like to give it a try, just a bit concerned that the king is a snake eater, do i seperate the male and female after copulation, will he eat hatchlings and do they need to be housed seperate?

This is a year or so down the line but i want to make sure i get it right, he/she is a crackin snake and a joy to handle.

Once again THANKS ALL

the pair should be seperated before and after copulation.
during mating nature overrides hunger ,but feed king well during this period esspecially the female ,they are generally the cannibal, mainly because the male has other things on his mind
i am sure that an adult will eat the hatchlings givin the opportunity.
and babies should be housed seperatly because they will eat each other

so i guess quite a large set up is needed, and do new born hatchlings require same temp gradiant as adults?

I keep mine in all sweater box tibs like sterlite, rubbermaid. A heat gradient is reccommended during the cooler months. Place the heat on one side so the snakes can have a choice to lay on the heat or move away to the cool side.

Another thing I might note (and I usually don't disagree with what ChristopherD says) I keep all my "adult" Floridana/Brooks kings togeteher during the spring and summer breeding months and they have never eaten each other. I do feed them seperatly or keep a close eye so that one does not eat the others meal and then each other. But the males do tend to go off food during this period so it makes it easier. I do remove the males when a female is gravid so that he does not eat the eggs while she is laying. Otherwise they are pretty much together the whole time.

Neonates and young kings I do keep seprate and they are notorious for eating each other. They definetly should be kept seperate.
