How to sort these Sunglow babies?

laurarfl Jul 17, 2007 06:41 AM

This is my first clutch and the babies hatched out this past week. The male is a beautiful Sunglow, the female is an amel who is very red with very very little white. These babies are pink. One is showing a lot of orange near the neck, but they look like basic pink/white amel babies to me. When will the color show so that I may see which ones lean toward the bright orange Sunglow?

Thanks for helping me along my adventure...

Laura

It can take quite a while for amels to develop[ their full color.
I would watch after the first couple of sheds and see if there are a few that stand out from the others...less white, more color showing between saddles, brighter saddle colors. I think after a few sheds you should at least have an idea which ones to watch anyway.

I breed amels to sunglow motley, amel bloodred, fluorescent, and amel aztecs, and call them all amels......I have used opals and other thngs as well.........round here amels are usually sold wholesale and people want them for $8 to $10......I don't sell them that cheaply......but even at $15 or $20 it's still cheap.............I do raise some up and they do turn out pretty sweet from the bloodred and amel mot......

......call them what they are .........?
