Hatch rite ?

The is my first time buying and using it. it was shipped to me and one bag was ripped and dried out. the thing is the other 3 bags are dried out as well.Is this how it is supposed to be? its like dried out styrofoam.

You probably shouldn't use the ripped bag, but yes the stuff does appear dry and it works. I just hatched out my first clutch of ball pythons yesterday using hatch rite. However, I did occasionally add water to the substrate when the humidity seemed too low. I'd suggest setting up your incubator (and hatch rite) several days before your eggs are due just to check the humidity levels and make sure the temps are stable. If it still seems too dry, you can add a LITTLE water to it, just don't flood it because this stuff becomes very wet very fast.
