Ambition...

rearfang Jul 18, 2007 08:33 AM

Got a call from my neighbor last eve up here in NC.

"I have a copperhead in my back yard...come quick!"

Grabbing my hook I ran down the street and over to my neighbor's back yard where she stood pointing at some weeds near the new fence she was having built. There in the bushes was a 2.5' southern copperhead who was most unhappy...because coiled around it was a 2' female chain king who was constricting it with dinner in mind.

Unfortunately, my camera was still packed from our recent move. There were children and a dog milling about so I couldn't wait to see how it would end. So I seperated the combatants and took them both home.

The good news here was I needed a female chain so i got for my effort a gorgeous snake with a perfect thin chain pattern...and an attractive copperhead as well.

Love those snakes, it was one of my first hots. Just don't ask me how I got it when I lived on the West coast. That's another story!
