What do you do with your Slugs?

ZFelicien Jul 18, 2007 08:17 PM

Usually i'd throw them away but, this season I had a few from a few clutches... so I tried something new... rather than throw them away I offered them as food and I was a bit surprised my snakes ate um!

Had some eggs go bad as well... I washed them off and offered them (just to see if they'd eat um... and they did!)

BTW: I'm very sure they were slugs... I check and recheck and I made sure I "candled" them...

Funny thing... I used to toss 'em all too.
I forgot all about one bad egg and it sat in a dirty deli cup for 2 months. Another cup was nested on top of it.
This is the snake that hatched from that bad egg a few years ago..

Sweet! I love stories like that. How did you find him after all that time forgetting about him? What prompted you to look in there?

Cleaning up, I grabbed the delis (I had placed them on an overhead shelf)and almost tossed them. It was too heavy to be completely empty I guess and I lifted the top one off and found the little guy....with the slit egg shell.

They are good with a little spicy mustard. Uh, well that's what I heard. Randy
