Question about plastic enclosures

jrbl Aug 18, 2003 09:42 PM

I have a question about a type of enclosure I have seen before. It was a wall unit with shelves, that have plastic drawers(like tuberware) that fit in the shelves. I was wondering how these work. I saw no where to so put lights and the onlyy heat source that I think would work for these is heat pads under the plastic drawers. Do any of you use this type of enclosure? It seems like a good use of space, but I cant see how animals can stay alive in that type of enclosure. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, jrbl

You're right, there isn't room for lights, but that's not an issue with the species kept in that kind of setup. Heating is usually accomplished with heat tape either under the tubs or vertically up the back of the unit. I'm in the process of building one now for my corn snakes. It really is a more efficient (and economical) way of housing them.
