Munch, munch and more munch.....

rainbowsrus Jul 19, 2007 01:12 AM

did I mention munch?

this week was my biggest feeding week EVER, have never fed as many snakes as I did in the last few days. Except maybe a couple of years ao when I had 136 babies but even then, probably not as I was selling some before the main group came and still was a later litter or two.

I have 99 snakes in da house, 88 of them ate, only ones to not eat were:
All the gravid BRB's (8 not so little ladies)
Eve (was just not interested)
One BCI female that may also be gravid who hasn't eaten since breeding
Minnie who was deep in shed.

Phew, sure glad I'm raising my own feeders. May have to expand the colony (more racks/tubs) to support the increasing needs.

LOL, quite often once I start feeding they get the idea and are waiting impatiantly for their turn. More than one came out of the tub teeth first as soon as I opened it even a crack. Normaly they're not like that but they do go into a feeding frenzy mode

I did have one of the two year old BRB's (didn't even pay attention to who) eat way cool. It was in the moss hide and I opened the lid and offerred the fresh killed prey. No lunge, no constrict, gently reached out, took the head and started swallowing. That was so cool, reminded me of a burmese I had almost 20 years ago, she would eat turkey drumsticks from my hand, just reach out sweet as can be and swallow it, no grabbing, no constricting.
