inter cloaca egg deflation?

ChristopherD Jul 19, 2007 07:18 AM

this morning i figured my female black milk was bound up since 6 eggs arrived 3 days ago ,in the past i let nature take its coarse only to have them harden and remain inside ,since this egg was 1"from cloacai used my sm. ball tip probe w/ lube and went in .I actually"scraped" the outside of the egg and it still wouldnt budge so feeling i had the probe center on the end of the egg i popped it and squeezed the liquid out of the cloaca, cleaned her up a bit and put her back in her cage stll has 3 floating egg in line behind the popped egg, should i now let her do the rest?

A warm water soak may help her

also you might use a catheter or just a syringe filled with KY jelly and inject it into her

In my experience ,the quicker you asperate the eggs the better she will feel. Its like a pregnant women, all they want to do is get it out.If you can palpate the eggs to the cloaca and use a syrige to poke and drain the eggs then w/forceps or tweezers pull them out gently. After being in the snake between 10 to 20 days they will start to solidify if not passed.Thats when the big problems start.Good luck.

Normnun is spot on right. A deflated egg *should* pass within 24-48 hours and with luck will be folowed by the others in 2-4 days. A bit of pushing on your part will help her along and I've squeezed a few eggs right out of the female. A large milk with one medium egg inside will likely pass it next year but 2-4 large eggs could obstruct her bowels.
You did exactly what I've done in the past and have started pushing a 60 guage needle on a 60cc syringe through the side of the snake to aspirate those eggs stuck well above the cloaca. The eggs right at the cloaca can be punctured and drained just as you did.
Good luck with it....Jeff

You mean a 16 gauge needle with a 60 CC syringe for asperation
If you have a friend that works in the hospital ask them for one on these(neonatal feeding tube)

Use it with a syringe and KY jelly to lube up the oviduct
