BRB litter

Jeff Clark Jul 19, 2007 07:50 AM

I came home from work this morning and found that my female RD had laid her litter. So far 19 healthy babies and she may be finished. This is the third year in a row that she has laid nice litters. PICs and final stats coming later. She is a dark reddish snake with some brown to her color. She is from Dallas Zoo bloodlines. The father is Branco one of my old imported red orange males. He has probably fathered several hundred babies for me since he first started breeding here in 1994. The last and only observed breeding for this pair this year was january 30th.

Great looking litter. Looks like she may have laid them hours earlier, she's already redistributed her internal organs and lost the flat tire look.

Dave,
..The fact that she does not have that typical flat tire look had me thinking she may have had more to lay but so far no more so she must be done. She is a very muscular snake and never looked like she was losing weight in her forward half and so she came throught this gravidity better than most do.

There are 8 males and 11 females in the litter. I weighed and measured 5 of them. They weighed from 29 to 32 grams and were 17.5 to 18.5 inches long. I am feeding them now and most are taking live pinky rats. Thanks for all the nice comments.
