PHOTO'S

luckydog06 Jul 20, 2007 09:24 AM

The year is 2007 and all over the country herpers are being
looked at and or regulated.. WHY ? I don't have the answer..
What I can say is many of the photo's I see are just cause
for being picked on.. Snakes pictured in small containers,
poop in the corner, stuck shed pieces, the list goes on..
It would be nice to see folks give more thought to their
pictures..Take the snakes out of that messy bedroom and out into the grass..Set up something for photo shoots even a clean
white sheet if you have no other options..We have no idea who visits these pages that we like to freqent..So it's in our best interest to clean up our act and give more thought to that picture..Please feel free to give me your opinion and/or tell
Joe Blow his pictures bite..I for one perfer not to have to fight to keep this right..We must ban together and help each other in order to survive..

there are a lot of morons who keep snakes and other reptiles for whatever reason.

Many people want to put their own emotional needs way before the actual needs of the snake. this is the biggest problem.

I agree 100%. Its bad enough when people post an animal for sale that they want 10k for and the picture is not only out of focus but it's in a cage that has crap in the corner and is sitting on newspaper soaked in urine. Then they wonder why its not selling well let me think. Or they come on to the forums and want to show others their great animal they have but then they also show the deplorable conditions they are kept in. It drives me crazy how people don't even think twice about posting photo's like this. Let's face it all animals will make a mess of their cage and yes it can happen over night. I know my Retics will do some damage to their cage in 1 night that is just wrong. For god sakes clean the cage before you take a photo, and not only for the photo but take care of your animals. The best is when they do post these pictures and then try to defend their actions as to why the cage looks that way. Guess what if you don't like getting beat up and you had any common sense don't post photo's like that. The best is when you see people with a fairly expensive collection of high end animals and they house them in just disgusting conditions. The only reason I bring up the high end collection is one would think that if they could afford those animals then they should be able to afford some proper housing, but that's just me. Sorry but this is just a sore subject with me it just does not make any sense. People need to realize that owning these animals is a responsibility.

Thank you

I've actually left negative comments on pictures like these on several occasions, but I doubt it left any impact on the posters. I understand how difficult it is to keep herp cages clean (especially for a few certain individuals). But don't advertise how messy they are, this helps nothing.

Speaking of pictures though.. Tim?

I agree! I get so disgusted looking at some of the classified ads of animals in just nasty conditions. Another pet peeve of mine is when people post pictures of snakes with stuck shed attached...Yeah it happens, but if you've got the time to snap the pic, why not go ahead and get the stuck shed off before you do it?

You're absolutely right. I don't know about everyone else but I clean cages and/or feed once a week on the same day. If I feel like taking some pics, that's the day I do it on. How hard is that?

Thank you folks, I noticed that the pictures here taken outside
were well recieved and complimented on..It may very well have benefitted the animal to be let out..Sunshine and the sweet smell of grass..Not to mention that cruise may have helped a
bowel movement..Jeff did a fine job showing a red blood on a
simple black back drop..It brought all eyes right to the snake
and nothing detracted from the snake..Good work Jeff..
If your looking to sell,it makes good business sense to
photograph just like that..Most herpers are also wantabe
photographers so it makes me wonder why we see what we do..
My feelings are if they take pride in their photos they also
take pride in their animals..I have Bloods/stp's bedded on cypress
mulch,I can put in a clean water bowl in at noon and 24 hours
later I wouldn't photograph it..
Jordan my friend, Teresa sent photos to you,Did they not arrive ??? As soon as I become camera/computer literit
we'll get you some pic's..The male is now blue so it'll be at least a few days..we'll see if we can't get them posted here so
that all can see what nice animals we got from you..
Thanks all,
Tim..
