My russian tortoise is kept outside in a fully screened in gazebo in one of those plastice kiddie pools on ecoearth and alfalfa (in his house)...he's been eating and going potty regularly and now there are little light tanish white bugs all over him and i have no idea what they are... they are mostly on his shell

I did the same thing that i do if a snake gets mites.. i soaked him for a little while, watered down some of the original listerine and scrubbed his shell and feet with it to kill them

any ideas on what they might be??

they kept going into clusters as well

here is a close up

thanks guys!!

They look like mites to me, but I'm no expert. There is a good spray product for mites that people have reccomended in the past. Try searching the old posts. You'll need to try and identify where they are coming from as well as treat the animal to fully get rid of them.
