Scale Count for Jeff Clark

waspinator421 Jul 21, 2007 01:04 AM

Well, I did my best to get a mid-body count for you. He was a bit squirmy, so I was only able to get 2 complete counts. The highest one was 48. When he sheds I'll try and count the scales on the shed, that is if he doesn't ball it all up.

The scale size and shape of his head look almost identical to my other adult BRBs to me. And don't Peruvians have thicker dorsal markings? I'm still learning, so I may be missing some subtle details.

Hopefully I'll get some better pictures of him tomorrow... well... I guess technically later today!

they have thicker or bolder dorsal markings but definately that applies to the facial stripes to my understanding as well. I will definately be getting a pet peruvian in the next few years myself. I also wouldn't mind one Isla Marajo too

Aubrey,
...Thanks for the scale count. It does indicate that the snake is a Brazilian. Peruvians do have thicker darker markings but that snake has a head that looks very much like my adult male Peruvian.
Thanks again,
Jeff

That's great to hear! I really want to breed him to Sable, but if he turned out to be Peruvian that wouldn't work out so well for me.

BTW, what are the avg scale counts for BRBs and PRBs... for future reference?

Thanks!
