Oldest leos...

Darksky Jul 21, 2007 11:09 AM

My lil normal female Beanie is about 6 or 7 (I got her as a subadult 5-6 years ago) and her daughter Pixie is about 3. I am wondering how old everyone's oldest leo is (was). I know they can have relatively long lifespans (especially for those little bodies!), but I'm trying to get a guess as to what the average lifespan is.

thanks!

I'd consider them "older" after about 10-12. Average captive lifespan I believe runs about 12-16, depending on conditions, and the record I think is approaching 20 or more. Someone please correct me if I'm off.

My oldest is approximately 7 years old, I got him in mid-October and he was 3-4 months old.

The Leopard Gecko Manual gives the male longevity record as 28 years and the female longevity record as 21 years, so you may be in for a long haul. A Reptile Keeper's Guide: Leopard and Fat-tailed Geckos gives the average leo lifespan as 15-22 years, with males generally being longer lived.

lol mines only 5-6 months old, and sadly hasnt changed a bit, apart from a little bit of slight lightening in his skin colour. i think he was near enough a hatchling when i got him didnt know they lived upto almost 30years lol

your geckos are middle age, i think the oldest was a 21 year old male, and a 19 year old female. females don't live as long as males, esp. if you bred them. my oldest is 1.5 years, but im jsut gettin into leos.
