Peachthroat info

PItbull2891 Jul 21, 2007 02:39 PM

I am looking into getting a peachthroat minotor that is currently listed in the classified ads. It has been in captivity for 7 months and appears healthy. Do any of you have experince with this species and what are you thoughts on them good and bad. I have the room and money to support a lare monitor and i beleive these are a more mid size monitor compared to the waters and Niles.

Any info on special needs and so forth would also be greatly appreaciated. I haave looked over the internet for info but caresheets are only so good it is always better to learn from someone with a little experience. Thanks.

Jobi’s are first on my list of fun monitors, I like everything about them.
They can be all you ever want from a monitor if housed and treated well.
I love there coloration, temper, size and body built, they can make excellent active display but most peoples will never get to see them, this is on of the specie witch dart for hiding at the first glance of you, that’s why I don’t provide hidings for them. This allows them to adjust much faster, and very soon lose all fear of there keeper, but hey that’s just the way I like it, to each his own?
All in all jobi’s are the best monitors in the world, they have it all.
Actually flavi’s are a better choice size wise, both are awesome.

Don’t listen to peoples saying they are nervous, bad husbandry makes them act this way, well kept and started jobi’s are amongst the sweetest and most desirable monitors ever.

Just a thought, but a trio of ackies might be more fun and perhaps a more sensible choice as well. Cheers

Hello,
Peachthroats in my experience were always a favorite and as Jobi has mentioned, they did quickly become inquisitive tong feeders. Great animals... Something to consider on a different note is that some of the animals that have been posted on the classifieds for a while(months)as juveniles should not be juveniles anymore if housed and fed properly... I would consider the baby/juvenile "start, head start" as one of the more crucial times in healthy development. Good luck with your purchase and best to you- Mike
