I purchased this guy from a lady about 3 yrs ago. She said she aquired him from a local pet shop. Every time he sheds it seems that he is getting more black flecks. Anybody seen this before? Any ideas on what I should breed him to?

maybe it is a Boa Constrictor Melanogaster? I hear that they look very similar to the boa that you have there. I would try to read up on them and see.
I believe this is a boa constrictor longicauda. Check out the info by Gus Renfro @ Rio Bravo Reptiles

I wonder if it's a cross between bci and silverback bolivian. Haven't seen a bci that silver/black. Doesn't look to me like longicauda, not typical head markings. Strikingly pretty snake, though. Mark
I agree. The boa is not melanogaster or longicauda. He has a heavy silverback amarali appearance. Possibly a cross, but looks nearly all amarali. He is a great looking boa.

I am still thinking longicauda. Check out these pages from ectothermics site.

Thanks
This has been bugging me. I've been hitting diffrent sites for more info. I thought longacauda, but looking at alot!! of pics I have changed my opinion. I am going to say amarali. It doesnt have the same intense black color and nowhere the yellowish coloration. I have an old pic of a Brazilian amarali a friend of mine owned for sometime back in 2001. He purchased in in a "Richway" department store aprox 12yrs earlier. It's a spot on match in likeness and pattern type.

I cannot post any pics of this animal from 2001. The pic is a print and I do not have a scanner. I have posted an animal from another snake buddy back in 2004 for a comparison.
