Age for band loss?/What morph?

CutePoison Jul 21, 2007 09:01 PM

Hi everyone, I used to post on this forum years ago but got out of the habit, and have recently started coming to kingsnake again since I am in the process of acquiring a corn snake.

I have done extensive research on leopard geckos, so I am somewhat knowledgble, but by no means an expert. However, I dont know a whole lot about colour phases and genetics, so I was wondering if anyone had any information about leopard geckos losing the "juvenile" bands that are on their backs. Do some geckos and/or genetic lines never have the band break up into spots, or have it happen later in life?

The reason I ask is my boy Gabriel Chaos Bourne, who will I will have had for 5 years come October [he was approx a month at time of purchase] still has his bands, with no sign of them breaking up into spots.

He is an albino, obviously, but I was wondering if he was a certain strain/type/morph of albino?

Thanks for any info, this has been a curiousity of mine for some time. :D

Trying to post a pic, not sure if it'll work. If it does, then this is today's picture, and he just shed yesterday. If not, the I clearly have no idea how to post pictures, so help would be greatly appreciated. :D

at 5 years theres no way he's going to loose those banding. hard to tell w/out a pic of him what type he is. leos usually loose the banding completly when they are about 50 grams, but start loosing them from the minute they hatch.
