Pastel Red Axanthic

CoreyWoods Jul 21, 2007 09:42 PM

Well I've gotten my ass kicked multiple times trying to produce the Red Axanthics and Pastel Red Axanthic over the years. I produced 2.0 Red Axanthics in 2001 and 0.2 in 2002 and since then I haven't been able to produce them since until this year (2007). I've been really good at producing Het RA males and it didn't help that I lost the original mother a couple years ago for no apparent reason (she just dropped dead towards the end of the breeding season).

The first clutch of 7 eggs from Pastel het Red Axanthic x het Red Axanthic didn't produce any Red Axanthics or Pastel Red Axanthics. The second clutch was 9 eggs from Pastel het Red Axanthic x Red Axanthic and 0.1 Pastel Red Axanthic and 1.1 Red Axanthics were produced (finally!). Here are some pics;

The albino is from a different clutch but thrown in for comparison.

Pastel Red Axanthic (pre shed) and Opal het Red Axanthic (post shed)
