All of the Eastern hatchlings are finally here. Over the past three weeks three clutches hatched. All three took about 115 days with eggs kept at mostly 70 - 75 degrees until the past month when I raised them to 70 - 80 . After tallying the first clutch, 3.0, and the second clutch, 4.3, I figured too many males: next year keep them warmer. Then the last clutch finished today with 2.6. Overall, two other good eggs died before maturity and a third went to the end with severly kinked hatchling dead inside. There may be truth to the assertion on this forum that heavy (obese?) females don't breed as well as slender ones. The female which produced the smallest clutch and only three viable hatchlings was much thicker than the other two.
