way too young. I prefer not to breed any females under 1500 grams and 2.5 yrs. I have had young females @ /-1200 grams drop dead right after ovulation. I would stick with older girls if you can hold off. The risk is not worth it to me.

just my 2 cents.

That is too young and too small. You generally want your females to be at least 1500g. That is a good safe breeding weight. Of course i am sure people breed females that are slitley smaller than that. I think the absolute minimum is (should be) 1200g. Even then people sometimes have bad experiences.

Also remember the smaller the female the smaller the clutch size. The bigger the better. (Generally)

I hope that was helpful.

There are plenty of things that can happen. After all they aren't machines... things can and do go wrong with living things all the time. There are a lot of variables to take into account.

I bred my first female het pied at 30 months. She laid 9 perfect eggs and hatched out 4 pieds. Her second clutch was 8 eggs and again produced 4 more pieds.

I had another female that was around 20 months that laid 8 perfect eggs. She just laid another 9 three weeks ago.

It all depends on the individual.

Good luck.

Look at it like this a girl can become pregnant as young as 9 years old that doesn’t mean that they should , you would like a girl to be a women before they breed so why would you won’t to breed your snake just as soon as she can produce ? I will not breed a female Ball until she is 1500gr .and 2.5yr.s old or 1700 at 3yr.s old , I put the welfare of my Animals first . If you can’t wait to breed there are a lot of 1500gr.and up females in the classifieds so go get one and you can breed this coming session . David of DS Reptile Rescue
