I have SHIMS!

Ok. I have a slight delema. I have a three year old Whites, and I am torn between it's sex. I call it a she, b/c her name is Phoebe. she's about 3 inches, snout to vent, and weights I THINK 41grams. Her throat is totally white, which leads me to believe she IS a she, but then again, she is soo small! She only croaks when I am trying to feed her and she is swallowing and is pissed that I am shoving food at her (i hand feed her). But then maybe twice a year, she will croak for about 10 seconds. Anyone want to guess on the sex?
My other whites, i got from PetCo about a month ago. I nursed "her" back to health, and she gained about 10 grams, about 35grams total. BUT, she is supposed to be a baby. I bet she is about 6 months old tho, or around there, since she is so close to Phoebe's size. That makes me think she may be a her, b/c she seems like she will get bigger than phoebe. But unlike phoebe, her throat has a bit of darker green along the jaw line, that extends down about 1/2 an inch. Could that mean Picasso is a male?? UGH! Ok, here is a pic of both of them! Any imput would be great!!!

Male WTF's will call at about 6-12 months of age if they are kept in optimal condition or if they have been cycled. if you have a male, and he doesn't croak his throat will be white not dark. the throat is only dark in males after or when they are croaking.

you say you have heard your frog croak for 10 secs once? was it like a 'crawk' crawk crawk crawk etc? or a higher pith screech?

weight really has nothing to do with sex. size can sometimes, but it is not a very relyable way to indicate the sex of a frog.

male frogs will have nupital pads(dark rough patches) on the base of their thumb if they are willing to breed, but then if they were willing to breed they would also call.

the best way to tell if they are male or female is to play, or mimic, their call to them. if they reply and start croaking(eg crawk crawk crawk etc) they are a male. they must have optimal temps humidity etc for them to call. also, females can make a reply call to a male which sounds like a harsh screech(sounds like a distress call)

a good way to tell if your WTF is a female is to check if she has eggs. hold her/him gently and look on the belly, then slightly press, if you see any blackish dots moving around it is a female. if you do not know how to do this properly, it can be distressing on the frog.
