Several times I've been near my gecko's tank and hear a strange croaking kind of sound, particularly at night. Am I hearing things or does someone else know what this might be?

They are capable of vocalizations, but they usually only do it when they're upset about something. That being said, if nothing unusual is going on, yours might just be talkative...

Some Leos make sounds, particularly chirps and clicks, mini bird like sounds. Usually sounds are made because they are frightened of something, but in some occastions leos have some animal instinct to roar or chirp for no real reason, some may say this is singing for leos.
On the flipside this could mean a small problem. Your leo MIGHT have a cold, when leos have colds they cough by chirping, or making sounds just as we do. Resolving this is simple, make sure your leos heating is what its sopose to be and within the days your leo will be fine. =]
If hes only doing it at night, it seems your leo is either afraid of the dark, or is thinking about attending Leo Idol? Your call,
