Making Driftwood Turtle Safe?

ShadowMetis Jul 23, 2007 10:47 PM

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums.

I'm planning on building an aquarium for a painted turtle I recently acquired and I'm looking to throw some driftwood in there for aesthetics. The problem is that when you buy the stuff already prepared for use in an aquarium, it's so damn expensive. Now this is something that I can find by the thousands of pieces if I take a walk down to the riverfront. So can anyone tell me what I might do to make some generic driftwood safe for my turtle?

Thanks in advance.

Boil it and your good to go or easier let it soak with water and little bit of clorox than soak it in water to remove the clorox.

I have never had the slightest problem with driftwood that was allowed to completely dry in the sun . wet wood can house leeches but dry wood wont
