Twin Zonatas

AllanBartlett Jul 24, 2007 11:49 AM

This is the scene I came home to yesterday from work. Has anyone else here hatched out twin zonatas before?

Congrats on the twins!! They made up for the two eggs that crapped out on you!

I have only had twins one time (corns) way back before digital cameras.. so i dont even have pix to prove it..

There was a total of ten eggs for this clutch and three went bad, but now there will be eight hatchlings instead of seven. I'm wondering if this type of thing is good for the genetics. By that I mean, I know in humans, certain families have it in the genes where the girls are more predisposed to have twins. I think I'll hold them back to see if I can get further sets of twins in the future. It couldn't hurt to try my theory out.

That I could not answer.. But, I can tell you that I bred the female that gave me twins for a few years after that and she never gave me twins again??

Give it a try and in 6 to 10 years or so, let me know!

Congrats again!

Congrats..
Never saw Z twins!
I emailed you some time ago about these. Did you receive it?
Anyway, those twins are beautiful snakes.
Probably a stupid question, but are all twins the same sex??
I can't recall anyone ever saying what sexes they got with their twins...
If not and you luck out w/a pair there, that'd be great.. Obviously I'd breed them together!

I just sent you a private message Mark. I haven't sexed the twins yet. I just got home from work and both are out of the egg. There is a big disparity in size of the twins. One is about half the normal size(tiny) compared to the other. I plan to hold at least one back.

I would try one back to a parent if same sex, if different, I'd go one with each parent. Maybe you could add that in and see what parent possibly carried it. Then next year if different sex, I'd breed them and see what's up. Very cool event!
