OT: Tarantulas

PHLdyPayne Jul 24, 2007 12:23 PM

Way back down the list there was a post about the new T's somebody received, alive this time I was going to post an updated picture of mine but as usual...took me nearly a week to get updated pictures....and as promised, here they are:

This picture is about a week old now, but didn't get around to posting it till now...

The next two are after a recent shed, pictures taken today. He shed probably last night as I am quite sure he didn't have a shed with him when I checked him out during the day Monday.

using a roll of paper towel isn't the best background...but it was just the right height to get good pictures.

Hell yeah I love tarantulas. The crazy thing is I have been scared of spiders my whole life and after watching all those people on t.v. like Jeff Corwin, Steve Irwin and others-they make it look so easy. So I conquered my fear my holding one of my friends tarantulas and he doesn't even hold them cuz he's a puss. I was scared of snakes five years ago and held a retic (what a first snake to hold huh) and this 8 foot beauty was gorgeous and I haven't looked back since. I'm pretty sure spiders don't shed they molt btw. thanks for sharing

Thanks for the comments.

You're right, spiders molt but hey, its my first spider and I do own alot of snakes...so shedding was the natural thing to refer to 'changing skin'

I never had a fear of spiders or snakes..or most creepy crawlies. I don't know if it was because I only had a brother as a sibling, spend all summer in camp, hung around with more boys than girls...or just because I was born a tomboy with an insatiable curiosity of new things.
