When you introduced the two, then 3 females to live together, did you notice one or more trying to get out of the cage? Scratching at the front where the glass is? Also, did you notice that they ate a little less, maybe not at all during the beginning?

How long do you think it would take them to adjust? when should I pull the plug and say this isnt working? For instance: when its been a week and someone isnt eating? Obviously if someone bites at another? Or if the one trying to get out doesnt stop after a week or so? I mean how far should I let it go?

I hope I am making sense. If not just let me know and I will try and clarify. Thanks, Lindsay

Well I heard some noise in the lizard room so I went in and Daisy and Fiesty (the two the same size, sisters) were having a brawl. Both on the floor of the cage, circling each other, puffed out wide but flattened up and down (if that makes sense). Anyways, they did this along with head butting (mostly on Fiestys part)+ tail swishing and eventually Daisy open mouthed fiestys tail a couple times. I didnt hear her actually chomp down and no scales were hurt or blood drawn. This lasted about a minute straight. Then Fiesty walked away, but here and there they are puffing and circling at one another. Usually when I yell enough, they stop and look...lol All I can say is it must not bother Fiesty too much because during the brawl she went over and ate a piece of salad?? Go figure.

Anyways, now what? Its like when their both on the floor and one runs it freaks them both out and thats how it starts. Are they moody today or what? None of them did this yesterday. Syd just watches from the basking spot.

Should I just ride it out another day or two and see if things settle? No injuries yet. They make no sense! One minute they are basking on top of one another the next duking it out? KIDS!

If you have no injuries and the fightinh isn't a "constant thing" I would ride it and leave them be for now. I had a small fight or two when I added a new female with my two. Nothing major and now they all share the huge basking rock and the food dish all at once.

Its not constant. All of them are up on the main shelve basking now. I cant say they all look thrilled though!! I think I will try and ride it out a couple more days. I really want and need this to work. I am crossing my fingers and praying! Lindsay

I think the only thing we did different was give them "fun time" together for a few weeks so they were use to each other in a pleasant surrounding. When we added them together they already knew each other from the pools and Super worm chase games... LOL another crazy idea, we were tossing superworms and letting them run and chase them one at a time, so they would learned sharing and waiting (it did not work, silly dragons)

These guys have strong jaws, if they wanted in inflict damage the could easily, and you would see it usually from the first time together. They are not doing that, they are testing and puching each other.

We had the head butting, but it stopped after 2-3 days and we only had that when we added the third one in. We also had the slow down in eating, and Lulu after a few days decided to go to sleep for a few months. Eva on here I know keeps several girls together with no problem, she's been away, but you might want to email here about how she went about it with so many.

I think introducing them just prior to brumation is a good idea too.... they see and know each other than go off to rest and wake up the same. Many breeders will add the male into the mix when they first start to show the signs of brumation as it is the least likely time for them to fight.

I would have pulled the plug on this already. I have two females and they never ever had a spat or the whole circling thing and biting tails. To me it isn't worth one loosing a tail, or being injured. The females I have together never showed aggression, not even puffing up at each other. The other two females went at each other the first hour, and I split them up after one went for the others tail and bit. From now on I will only put two females together that seem ok from the beginning. To me I would have kicked myself if one lost a foot, or tail, cause I was doing it for personal reasons too free up a tank. Do what you got to do, but be very careful. I'm rather very cautious with them maybe to much, but personally I don't want any injuries. I'm perfectly happy supplying each their own cage if that's what they needed. That's why I'm switching over all my glass to melamine so I can stack them four cages high, lol. Be careful with the smaller one too not eating. If that lasts too long you might have to take her out to feed. Well, see what happens if two get along fine together keep then together, and let the other have her own place. Maybe let them free roam together for a while each day. I know it would be great to get them to live in harmony, then you can get another But some are just not accepting of having a cage mate. Good Luck.

If that is the case then yes I would separate them! I thought they were just posturing to each other

Agreed, they will do battle slow down eating a little bit then will iron out who is boss. Jesus these woman are pushy. I have seen males and females go after and try to bite tales (on adults). I have only seen one that had the slightest break in skin (upper layer only) she shed and was fine. Two of my girls have decided recently that they want to fight with each other. fine by me have fun. They don't bite at all. The fun comes when a male is introduced. This is part of their normal behavior. If you want them to breed you can not avoid the bit tails and necks. It happens. But it is just to establish dominance. Once that is straightened out everything is cool. I like to watch my males though.
