She is doing great. Since she's had some time to eat a few meals of vitamin/calcium coated bugs, she's not having any problems with getting her eyes open.
Her parasites are gone, she's eating a varied diet of bugs and fruits/veggies just like the others & has a heck of an appetite.

I'm thinking of allowing her to spend her days in the pen with the other girls, then bring her in for night time. With the acrylic on her shell, and her not being healed from all her injuries I'm kind of afraid to leave her outside unattended 24/7. She has had some time outside in real sunlight and really enjoys going for walks out there.

I wanted to know for certain if she's female, the other girls don't pay much attention to her but they are all larger than she is. They apparently don't see her as a threat of any kind so they ignore.
Hobo was out one day this weekend, I set her down about 4-5 feet away from him to see what he'd do.
He saw her before she saw him, he did not treat her like she's male at all, he didn't want to fight, he tried to climb on her back. I took her away then gave him something to eat so he'd forget about what he'd just seen. LOL
Since the females ignore her and he did that I am positive she's the female I suspected she is.
All is well in turtle land for now but dang I'm just too busy with everything else in life.
Can't wait for winter so I can slow down.

Hehehe...yup, a strawberry or blackberry must be the equivalent of a cold shower...or a playoff game going into overtime.

Wow, Ratz. It sounds like she's doing great. I've been way to busy to read all of the posts and respond lately. It seems like I just read about how terrible her parasite load was and how you worried about leaving her at the Vet.. She has really come a long way! You are quite the box turtle rescuer!!

Thanks Ken, it's wonderful to have such a caring and knowlegeable vet in these cases.
When I took her back to the hospital back in June & left her there, then found out how many parasites she had then her eyes closed.. I really didn't think I was ever going to see her again. She was in there for a whole month so I stopped even asking about her because I was afraid to hear the answer.
The vet knows what she's doing & apparently she did it because Cookie is doing so well that I really can't even believe it myself!
It's really awe inspiring to sit here & watch how determined they are to live & realize just how much punishment they can endure then live through it. Awesome creatures they are!
