I have read conflicting things about humidity. Should I keep a water dish in the enclosure at all times, a few times a week, or what? I assume they need a bit of humidity for shedding.

I have the cage setup in the room now (no snake yet), and the temps are at 83 degrees with 40% humidity. A large water is dish included. This is with no external heat source because the room stays warm during the day. I have a small heat mat but I assume I don't need it during the day. Does this sound ok?

In order to get a temperature gradient I might have to move the cage downstairs where the temps are a bit lower.

Mike,

I keep my milks in racks where one side of the rack is heated underneath with the thermostat set to 82 and the other end of the tub is at room temp. At night, without any heat source the temps are at room temp during the spring, summer and fall months.

I usually keep a water bowl in the tubs at all times. Generally, having a waterbowl in the cage at all times provides sufficient humidity for the milks.

Good luck.
