A-Lavenders tale

budlite Jul 24, 2007 06:16 PM

In 04 i bought1.0 het lav and 0.4 66% het lav's from RDR ( big $$ )Last year i got 1 clutch( 4 eggs 1 slug )missed on odds !
This year the smallest of the 4 laid (2 eggs 1 slug )What a longshot !!A-lot of praying !! 2 weeks later the best looking egg went bad !! oh no, talk about miracle's. 1 lonely egg(with window size of a quater) left, what are those odds can u say lotto ah !! Sat. was 52 days, no pip. Last night (54 days)i pipped the egg, my miracle baby came and went all in a heart beat( 1 DEAD lavender albino )only 15-k or so!! Talk about wanting to cry!!! Only good thing i can hold on to is that girl IS a 100% het lav!! 1 chance left this year,1 other 66% girl do to lay on 8/17 (more praying) Sorry so long !!

My heart is aching for you. wow I cannot imagine the disappointment hopefully next year will be better. Do you still have any females that are going to lay eggs?

yes i still have 1 more het lav x 66% het, she's do to lay on 8/17. I also have some other good stuff on the way, but the lav project is my best.
Thanks for your reply

Ohhh, that is so rough. I can only imagine how much that must have hurt. So close, but yet so far away. Hopefully your female that is going to lay her clutch will have a live lavender albino. Two years and so far you haven't produced a thing that made it. I am so sorry for you.
That's what stinks about this hobby sometimes. You can't go through this hobby and expect to never make a mistake or have something bad happen. It just doesn't work that way. We'll either strike out at one point or screw up on something.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on that last clutch to come. Hopefully, you'll have a lavender albino in a few months.

Man, that sucks, I feel for you.
It will happen and when it does it will feel ooo so good.

I know a lot of people do there own thing but I like to wait till 56 to 57 days to cut if I do cut them open.

Good luck with the others females that you are waiting on.

You used up all of your luck with the genetic stripe clutch. Thanks for the male g-stripe.

Sorry about those odds. Here's hoping the 66%er will prove out and you'll get 1 or 2 lavs!

I doubt you'll read this cuz its a couple days behind, but I hear ya. I bought a Spider in 2005 hoping he'd breed. $4000. I still haven't gotten a hatchling from him, though some are on the way hopefully. I bought a cinny this year, $1500 he bred. My biggest clutch of 8 eggs........ 7 normals, 1 male cinny. I only had about 40 eggs this year to start with. I have 3 gone bad, one dead in the egg and out of 12 that hatched, 2 pastel females and a male cinny nine normals. Not as important as your Lavender, but very important to me. Frustrating season so far. And cinny males are as cheap as $300 a pop to boot!!! Im not tryin to make money, but I can't even make enough to buy new things. Just venting LOL
