These guys started pipping Saturday, and the last two are about to emerge. They are a cross of a female Nueces County, TX locality P. emoryi meahllmorum and a male orange candycane (guttatus).

Thanks very much! I like them too, and hope their colors stay rich as they develop.

Unfortunately their colors blend togather and fade as they grow. Maybe others have had different experiences, but the adults I've seen have mostly been "muted" in color and pattern. Here's a zigzag rootbeer I hatched out last year:

Those are both very nice snakes. Even though the adult faded, it's still a very pretty corn, imho. Most rootbeers I've seen have been more muted as adults, and i expect mine will probably fade as well. I will be happy if the light gray ground color stays nice and clean.

doesn't it? Hmm, these mixes are sure interesting.

I bred a Creamsicle to a Great Plains rat from Linn County, Kansas.

Here are the babies. I kept 1.1

And this is what the female looked like a after a year and a half. I bred the 1.1 rootbeers this year. That clutch should hatch in the week. I should get some real nice orange and white creams. They should look more like emoryi.

Can I have one? LOL
those are beautifull. I left the room and when I came back to see the first picture it almost looked like a baby King Snake until I saw the head. Good job.
Foot Hill Reptiles
The mother is a wc emoryi meahllmorum and father is an orange candycane. I'm hoping for these offspring, and subsequent creamsicles, to be fairly big and beefy, as this locality of meahllmorum get very big. I have a large male that weighs over a kilogram and was five feet long last summer.

I'll be doing the same with my male meahlly who is right at 5 ft now. He will be breed to a hypo female corn. My meahlly female will be breed to a hypo stripe male corn to hopefully produce some cinnamon stripes.
Sounds like a good project, Ralph. Best of luck! My pure Nueces County meahllmorum eggs will be nine weeks old next week, so the final countdown is almost here...
