Now last year she laid a whole clutch of bad eggs.
This year only three of the eggs were good.

Kerby, when I posted some Cal Kings recently you missed something I added and I could use some help on this.
Long story short
I have a Chocolate Banana female and a Banana male which I thought was het for Chocolate Banana
The male bred a normal banded. What is the proper label for the offspring?
Is there such thing as Het for Chocolate Banana or is there another way of labeling it? Lemme know when ya can

Chocolate Bananas are hypermelanistics...so are Davis, Mendotas, etc..
Same gene...at least I'm 99% sure...I will tell you if the Davis and Mendotas are the same in a few weeks, as I bred those together.
If you breed a Chocolate Banana to a normal then all the babies will be 100% het for hypermelanism.
Last year I bred the Chocolate Banana male to a sibling Banana female (double het for hypermelanism and albinism) and produced a Chocolate Banana and an albino.
Did that answer your question?

The male I used is only a Banana, not a Chocolate Banana. I think he is a sibling to the female Chocolate Banana I have. He was given to me as "het for Chocolate Banana"
So, if he is het for Hypermelanism and since he bred a normal female the babies are possible het Hypermelenistic? What about the Banana part??

**I have a Chocolate Banana female and a Banana male which I thought was het for Chocolate Banana**
That would make ALL of the babies 100% het for hypermelanistic.

In this combo, then yes, the babies are possible het ( a certain % are het). The "banana" part is just an aberrancy and is not recessive. If you breed a "banana" to a normal then you should expect some bandeds and some aberrancies. You may or may not get any "bananas" out of the clutch.

Chocolate Bananas are sweet.
I just got an adult female along with an adult male melanistic from Don Shores stock.
I think the Chocolate Bananas look spectacular.
