I'll be checking her every 30 minutes and will update again in an hour or so unless something happens sooner. I am keeping her in my room tonight on my desk, where my printer should be.
I'll figure out where to put the babies later. Technically I have no room for them!:P

You can just send them all over here, and you won't have to deal with them. I have plenty of room!

I would love to but I have a buyer ready for them...as long as he doesnt back out and I am going to sell some of the best locally. Otherwise I would be happy to send the "nieces and nephews" to you.
Nothing yet and now she has moved a bit, I think I might be making her nervous...I'll leave her alone for about an hour. Its hard to though!

And yes I will be having TWO (if not three Cherry is still thinking about having some)litters prior to you,but you got first pick of the first ones!
And you are still going about Zoe and Ziggy, although its hard not to!
Doesn't that make up for it?

Anyway it doesn't look like shes going to have them tonight, probably tomorrow sometime, while I'm at work and can't get video of it. They do this just to spite me. :P

Growing like little weeds....

Ziggy came in at 17 grams (kind of a runt) and is now 42 grams.
Zoe was 25 grams and is now 45 grams.

Both "now" weights are approximate, didn't think of it untill after I fed so I subtracted 12 grams from actiual weight, the weight of a similar sized rat pinkie to the one each ate.

What was it that made you so sure she was going to drop last night? Had it been a certain number of days since post-ov shed? Did she exhibit some behavior that cued you in? Just wondering.

its been about two months (just a guess, I keep losing my records somehow) and last year right before she had babies she turned the deep blue like she is now, she shed the day after birth last year. I can DEFINATELY feel them in her and her bulge has moved closer towards her tail. this will only be my third litter so it isnt as exact as Dave or Jeff.

Maybe it was all that 'checking up on her to see what changes' making her nervous so she held off on giving birth.

yeah after about 1 o clock i stopped looping in on her, she seems to have stopped noticing, I have her in a Sterilite container, just because its so much easier to clean that having her in a wooden cage.
I was mainly hoping to catch her in the act, but knowing my snakes she will probably have the litter right after I leave for work. And I'll miss all the fun and the chance to get it recorded to show you guys.

Yeah, they tend to plan things that way, don't they? I have checked eggs and saw no signs of hatching, only to come back from work or waking up and find babies waiting to be moved to their homes..yet not having a clue they were going to hatch that night or during the day.

Of course, live birth is different than hatching eggs...typically you can see 'pipping' or collapsing of the egg a few days before actual emergence of the baby...but not all the time. Hopefully you do get a chance to catch her in the act...so you can film it to show us...and show all her children when they get older (grin)

Jess,
....I have had around 120 Rainbow Boa litters and still cannot tell for sure when they will lay. Many of them will get very anxious and cruise around their cages poking their noses into everything when they are getting close. Providing an enclosed box with wet moss or mulch will often get them to settle down and they then stay in the box. Sometimes several days pass from when they go into the laying boxes until parturition. Some litters catch me completely by surprise like the one last week. She was 5 and a half months from last observed mating but I had guessed incorrectly that she had been bred after the last mating I saw. The load of babies does move further towards the vent late in gravidity but this sometimes occurs over several weeks. I am keeping my fingers crossed for your litter(s) and mine.
Good luck,
Jeff
