Snake venom paper (including 'rearfangs')

BGF Aug 19, 2003 08:15 AM

Hi all

Here is the link for the downloading of the first of the long awaited venom papers on 'colubrids'. This one covers an extensive array of 'colubrids' as well as weird elapids (including little studied Australian ones) and vipers (including Fea's).

Major implications of the paper are:

1. The venoms of the 'colubrids' are just as complex as that of the various elapids and vipers.
2. The toxins in the 'colubrids' are some of the same sorts as found in elapid in viper venoms (we even pulled out the typical cobra-style toxins from bloody ratsnakes).
3. This has the potential to seriously screw up the pet trade.
4. This does however reveal a vast venomous Serengeti for biomedical researchers.

Feel free to pass on to anyone you think might be interested.

Cheers

The Playstations been turned off and the beers back in the fridge. I don't think I was this excited about something since puberty. Maybe I need to get out more...

Nice one!, Cheers Lee.

All video game machines suck!

Reading is better!

I haven't played a video game in years! The reason is that they suck.

Play station II sucks!

Beers are okay, I suppose. At least Beers don't suck as bad as Playstations.-- Not that I drink, either, though.

To sum up: Playstations suck. Beers I don't do. But Reading is great!

cheers.

Please have a great Reading day!

(I am about to print out the BGF article and read it.

Thx for the article, BFG!)

There's nothing wrong with the Playstation 2. Sure, it's making a killer of a fortune for a faceless multinational at the expense of the education of millions of children (and adults) worldwide but... someone once refered to Gran Turismo 3 as like "freebasing the Kama Sutra" and they're not a million miles away. So, I agree that reading CAN be the superior form of entertainment/mental stimulation BUT in my defense I would like to cite The Great Gatsby. As for beer, 2.8 billion people can't be wrong. It's an issue of compatability. Beer PS2 = entertainment. Beer books = unintelligeable floating words (or Ben Elton, which is worse) while of course Beer Hots = a Darwin Award. I dont think PS2 Hots would work but Hots Books is still the daddy of a combo.

Anyway, if this is just mindless twoddle to you blame the beer

Cheers, Lee.
