Spraying for ants & spiders...

I am just wondering since i have beardies and leo geckos if there are any safe spays to use on the outside of the house to keep out spiders and insects ect.... ???????? we have people come around wanting to spray but i dont know if they will harm my pets that i have inside.... does anyone have any ideas?

any spraying near windows, vents etc can get inside the house, especially if these are open during the time of the spraying. Far as I am concerned, unless you have extensive ant problems (ie fire ants) I wouldn't bother spraying. Soapy hot water poured over ant hills and openings on decks etc are just as effective in killing ants.

thanks, i have never thought about soapy water before... i will try it,,,, we are having ants everywhere, they are even getting into the cages... and i clean them twice a day. ggrrrr maybe i should just buy a ant eater lol j/k

Where I live we have a huge argentine ant problem. This time of year through october is espically bad. The only solution for me is to spray around the outside of the house with some ortho once every couple of months. I'll close the doors and windows, spray with a stream around the house, and once it dries i'll open everything up again. You can also make a borax/corn syrup mixture(2% borax)and use it like ant bait.This works pretty good and the ants will swarm to this before they get to your reptiles. Josh
