my garter that i caught is about 12 inches long. should it be big enough to eat a pinkie. the thing will not touch night crawlers but will eat fish. how often should i try feeding a snake this size? thanks for the help.

i'd try scenting pinkies w/ fish and offer two at a time 2 times a week

Because people tend to overfeed their gartersnakes I feed my newborns twice a week in their first year. After their brumation they are fed once a week, like all my garters.
They get as much food as they want during these weekly feedings.
